Police satisfied with the start of the Cannstatter Wasen

After two long years of the compulsory Corona break, the Cannstatter Volksfest was officially opened in Stuttgart yesterday. The police are now taking stock of the situation.
The police were satisfied with the start of the 175th Cannstatter Volksfest in Stuttgart. “Everything was fine there, everything unremarkable,” said a spokeswoman on Saturday. There were no major incidents. The organizers spoke of a “nice start”. A detailed balance sheet of the first weekend should be available on Sunday.
The Wasen, one of the largest folk festivals in the world, was opened on Friday with a barrel tapping. Stuttgart’s Lord Mayor Frank Nopper (CDU) needed two hits in a tent that was not overly full.
After the festival was canceled twice due to Corona, around 3.5 million visitors are now expected by October 9th. On Sunday there is a folk festival parade with 4000 participants and tens of thousands of onlookers.
