Markus Lanz is extremely motivated this Tuesday evening: he really wants to take Markus Söder and the CSU apart. He imports pictures of Edmund Stoiber and Putin, pictures of Horst Seehofer and Putin, pictures of Söder and Putin. He quotes, visibly agitated, Söder’s not two-month-old saying that Russia is not the enemy of Europe. The CSU leaders, says Markus Lanz, made pilgrimages to Moscow to visit Vladimir Putin more often than to Altötting, out of greed for Russian natural gas. Does he really expect Söder to throw himself in the dust?
