He moderated 1729 programs without failing once, now he has to take two breaks in a row: ZDF talker Markus Lanz is ill. His broadcast must also be canceled on Thursday.

After being absent due to illness on Wednesday evening, viewers will also have to do without ZDF talker Markus Lanz on Thursday: the 53-year-old will again not be able to moderate his program “due to cold symptoms and hoarseness”. This was shared by a spokesman for the Mainz broadcaster when asked star With. Instead, the documentary “Markus Lanz – America without make-up” will be shown at the scheduled broadcast time at 11:15 p.m. The film was already broadcast on ZDF in January of this year.

Markus Lanz: Talk show on ZDF was canceled on Wednesday

On Wednesday, Lanz had to cancel an edition due to illness for the first time after 1729 broadcasts. A talk with Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck was planned after the Champions League coverage on ZDF. The broadcast was scheduled for midnight, but the broadcaster had to change its program at short notice. Instead of the talk show, there was a “Heute Journal Update” and from 0.10 a.m. the “Auslandsjournal” documentary “Russia, Ukraine and the World”.

It is not yet clear when the Lanz-Habeck talk will be made up for. When asked about a ZDF posting in the short message service Twitter, the broadcaster replied “currently” that it was not yet known.

After the program was canceled on Wednesday, a spokesman for the production company “Mhoch2 TV” said: “We hope for your understanding and are in good spirits that our presenter will be back tomorrow.” Apparently, Markus Lanz is hit harder than initially feared and has to take a break for the second day in a row.

Lanz himself has a 50 percent stake in the production company “Mhoch2 TV”. Since 2011 he has been producing his talk show together with his business partner Markus Heidemanns, who owns the other 50 percent.
