Marktschellenberg – climbers saved – Bavaria

With helicopters and a lot of muscle power, mountain rescuers have brought two climbers to safety who were in need in the Berchtesgaden Alps. The men wanted to climb a route on the Salzburger Hochthron, as the Bavarian Red Cross announced on Friday. When they abseiled to the start of the climbing route, a rope blocked. The duo was then helplessly stuck under an overhang in the rock face and made an emergency call. The rescuers of the Marktschellenberg Mountain Rescue roped down to the uninjured climbers on Thursday afternoon and secured them. Then they pulled it up by hand. A helicopter picked her up there in the evening and flew her down into the valley.
