Markt Indersdorf: balance of the first season in the monastery beer garden – Dachau

Finally sitting outside again, on the gravel under the tall trees, enjoying the beautiful weather and drinking a cold beer – that’s what many people in Markt Indersdorf and beyond were certainly looking forward to when it became known that the monastery beer garden at Indersdorfer Marienplatz was to open this year in reopened in June after 13 years. Now that the beer garden season is over for this year, tenant Ewald Zechner draws a positive balance.

Zechner, who in addition to the monastery beer garden also runs several bars such as the Liegsalz inn in Pellheim and is the host of the large beer tent at the Dachau folk festival, has decided to serve beer from Augustiner Bräu in Markt Indersdorf as well. Zechner is certain that it is “the right choice” not only at the folk festival, but also in the monastery beer garden. In general, he received very positive feedback from the guests. The beer garden was always well attended when the weather was right.

Zechner wants to open in April next year

This was often the case with the hot summer that Germany experienced this year, and the monastery beer garden was able to generate sales of around 250,000 euros in its first year. In addition to the beer, the guests apparently also liked the food: According to Zechner, not only have almost 100 hectoliters of beer flowed since the opening in mid-June, the visitors have also particularly liked the roast pork, around 5000 times. Closely followed by the shish kebab pan with almost 4000 servings.

In addition to food and drinks, the live program was also well received by the visitors, as Zechner explains, “especially Da Helli”, whose real name is Helmut Strasser, most of whom probably come from the folk festival band Ois Easy should know. But also the band The Hound Dogs promised the guests. And despite the many visitors and the music, the neighbors had no reason to complain: the beer garden always ended punctually at 10 p.m., as Zechner emphasizes.

But now the season is over, the monastery beer garden said goodbye to the winter break last weekend. But Zechner promises that he will open the beer garden again next year. He would then also like to use the terrace more, which is directly above the beer garden. In addition, this time it should not only open in June, but right at the beginning of the season, i.e. in the middle or at the latest at the end of April. From then on it’s time for beer, chicken and music again at Marienplatz in Markt Indersdorf.
