Mark Wahlberg kinda missed his Valentine’s Day and here’s why

Mark Wahlberg thought he was rid of the off-putting ritual of Valentine’s Day… and he was very wrong. Each year, the actor used to give Rhea Durham, his wife, gifts and a huge bouquet of flowers while pushing their four children to do the same. But this week, Mark Wahlberg was surprised when his wife offered to skip the gifts. Unfortunately for him, he took her at her word.

“When I walked into the bathroom on (Valentine’s Day) morning, I found a card, three presents and rose petals. I was like, ‘Holy shit,'” the star of transformers on the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Naive

“So I tried to find a solution. Flowers were coming anyway with a card, but we were supposed to be going on a little getaway and I was hoping she would still agree to go,” Mark Wahlberg continued. Suddenly, the actor hastened to look for a restaurant to book for the evening, but Rhea Durham assured him that it was not serious and that they could go another day. And in a new surge of naivety, Mark Wahlberg followed his wife’s advice without thinking for a moment that she was urging him to do the opposite of what she said.

“So, obviously, I had problems for having said yes to that too,” lamented Mark Wahlberg who, we hope, will have understood the lesson for next year.

Mark Wahlberg and Rhea Durham have been married since 2009. They have two daughters, Ella, 18, and Grace, 12, and two boys, Michael, 15, and Brendan, 13.
