They were images of hope. 220 kilometers from the besieged port city of Mariupol, a convoy of city buses set out on Sunday in the city of Zaporizhia, which is controlled by Ukrainian troops, to deliver 90 tons of aid. On the way back, the buses were to rescue desperate residents of Mariupol and take them to Zaporizhia and Dnipro along a designated rescue corridor. A ceasefire was agreed between Kyiv and Moscow.
