Where will Marion Maréchal be on Sunday? The answer to this question is particularly political. Marine Le Pen’s niece is preparing to join Eric Zemmour and should appear alongside him on Sunday at the Toulon meeting, according to three sources close to the candidate.
“It’s a real turning point, because his imminent support will symbolize and announce the success of the union of the rights after forty years of cordon sanitaire”, claimed Wednesday evening a close friend of Eric Zemmour, confirming information from the Figaro and of Opinion.
Zemmour wants to welcome him “with open arms”
The candidate himself has not confirmed the rallying of Marion Maréchal, a new episode in the fratricidal war within the far right. But “I can tell you that I wish it, I would welcome her with open arms, because she is a longtime friend, a remarkable woman”, he underlined on CNewsbefore castigating “Marine Le Pen candidate of the great renunciation, of the great betrayal of her ideas”.
“She will be in Toulon,” said another member of Reconquête!, while Marion Maréchal neither denied nor confirmed her arrival. The rally “is in the process of being done”, added a third party executive. Marine Le Pen for her part said she was “convinced” on Tuesday that her niece was going to join Eric Zemmour’s campaign.
More conservative than Marine Le Pen on societal issues and more liberal in economics, Marion Maréchal, former FN deputy (now RN), had told the Figaro in January “leaning towards Éric Zemmour” despite “a family subject” with his aunt. Four MEPs, including a leading member of the RN, Nicolas Bay, as well as the sole senator of the party Stéphane Ravier, both ideologically close to Marion Maréchal, have joined the campaign of the candidate Reconquête! in recent weeks.
