Prince Christian and Princess Maria Chiara are apparently just good friends. She now makes this clear in a statement.
Rumors have been circulating for weeks about a possible relationship between two young royals: Prince Christian of Denmark (17), the eldest son of Crown Prince Frederik (55) and Princess Mary (51), and Princess Maria Chiara di Borbone (18). However, the Italian now makes it clear: the two are just good friends. There is no love relationship.
“It’s time to put an end to the rumor”
“I would like to clarify the matter surrounding an unfounded rumor that has been circulating about me,” writes di Borbone in a statement on Instagram. “Prince Christian and I are very close friends.” It continues: “However, false information has been spread. At first, this situation made me smile. But over time, the rumor has exceeded the limits of common sense and has become increasingly at odds with reality.”
She thinks “now is the time to put an end to this rumor”. If “important events happen in my life”, the 18-year-old would like to share them with the public. “While we all love to dream of fairy tales, it’s only the truth that counts,” she concludes. The statement was published by the princess in English, Italian and French.
Who is Princess Maria Chiara?
Princess Maria Chiara comes from the House of Bourbon-Sicily and bears the title Duchess of Noto and Capri. She is the daughter of Princess Camilla (52) and Prince Carlo of Bourbon-Two Sicilies (60), head of the former ruling family. The 18-year-old was born in Rome in 2005 and grew up in Paris, Monte Carlo and the Italian capital. She is currently studying social and economic sciences and regularly shares snapshots with her around 88,000 Instagram followers.
