Marge Simpson cuts her hair in an exhibition in support of Iranian women

The work is signed by Italian artist aleXsandro Palombo. Since the end of last week, Marge Simpson appears on the walls of the French Institute of Education in Lyon. With this particularity: she sacrificed her legendary haircut defying gravity and directly inspired by the hairstyle of the fiancée of Frankenstein.

Marge cut her hair in solidarity with Mahsa Amini, a young woman who died last September after being arrested in Tehran by morality police for letting her hair stick out of her veil. It was also produced in support of all Iranian women, says the artist.

This work, called “The Cut”, appeared for the first time in front of the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Milan. But it was removed in less than 24 hours. The artist made a new work soon after, but with an angrier Marge and a raised middle finger; the work “again provoked the wrath of officials of the Iranian Consulate who intimidated the photographers and tried to prevent them from photographing and filming”.
