For 14 years she was in front of the camera for the MDR magazine “Brisant”. Now moderator Mareile Höppner wants to go “new professional paths”.

Mareile Höppner (45) has been leading the ARD tabloid magazine “Brisant” on MDR since 2008. Now the presenter would like to “go new professional paths”, it says in a press release from the broadcaster. Accordingly, Höppner will leave “Brisant” at the end of the year “at his own request”. It will remain in the format until November.

For 14 years, Höppner moderated the ARD program alternately with Kamilla Senjo (47). In addition, she presented big royal weddings, switched from the red carpet to the studio and was also the host of other entertainment shows on the first and MDR.

This is her successor

However, Höppner’s farewell does not mean the end of the format. From December, Marwa Eldessouky (39) will inherit the 45-year-old and lead the popular ARD magazine. “I am very happy to be part of this exciting format,” the Berliner with Egyptian roots is quoted as saying by the broadcaster.

Eldessouky has moderated various public service formats since 2010, for example for the rbb youth wave Fritz or the WDR radio station Cosmo as well as the multilingual service “WDRforyou”.
