Manchester United club owners have so far put little money into modernizing Old Trafford. This could change now.

Manchester United are planning a remodeling of the legendary Old Trafford. According to the English media, demolition and subsequent new construction should also be an issue.

Since the club was taken over by the late American Malcolm Glazer in 2006, there have been no major modernization measures at Old Trafford. In December, United COO Collette Roche raised the issue again.

“We examined the skills of world-leading consultants who are committed to helping us develop a master plan to modernize Old Trafford, with the goal of improving the playing experience for fans,” she said.

The association wants to find a partner for the realization of the project and then define “vision and goals for the master plan”.

Old Trafford: Demolition possible, but unlikely

To the telegraph According to a huge redevelopment project, a new, larger 90,000-seat stadium could be built alongside a smaller one for the women’s team and youth games.

A complete demolition of the stadium would be that Guardians according to but extremely unpopular with the fans. Understandable: After all, ManUnited celebrated their greatest club successes here. This is why this option is also considered the most unlikely, also because the professionals could not appear in their usual home arena during this time.

As a further option, the club owners are considering demolishing and rebuilding the south stand, i.e. a gradual renewal. The club’s vision could be to establish the stadium in the city as a cultural and community center – similar to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London, which was rebuilt for around 1.2 billion euros.

Since 2019, the Red Devils have invested around 25 million euros in Old Trafford. These include improving the service facilities, security and the renovation of the gastronomy. In 1910 the “Theatre of Dreams” was officially opened with a game against Liverpool FC.
