Manchester United – Bruno Fernandes jokes about Cristiano Ronaldo: “One of the worst”
Although Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo are both Portuguese, they seem to have minor problems understanding every now and then.
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes made fun of fellow player and compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo’s accent.
“Sometimes you are difficult to understand,” he said of the YouTube format Wingmen to Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford. “But in Portugal we also pronounce some words differently. Oh my god, I swear Cristiano’s original accent is one of the worst!”
Fernandes: The Portuguese sometimes don’t understand the Madeira accent
Ronaldo is from Madeira Island, over 950 kilometers southwest of mainland Portugal. “The Portuguese often cannot understand what they are saying,” Fernandes continued.
On the pitch, too, communication between Fernandes, Ronaldo and the rest of the team seems to have been sluggish so far. Since Ronaldo’s return, the Red Devils have only won four out of nine competitive games. Most recently it was a 5-0 home defeat against Liverpool.
