Manchester City hosted West Ham this Wednesday evening at the Etihad Stadium, during the late 28th day of the championship. While the Citizens are more than ever neck and neck with Arsenal for the title, they had to fight hard in the second half to snatch victory (3-0). In the other game, Fulham traveled to Anfield to challenge Liverpool. Thanks to a good domination, the Reds made short work of the Cottagers (1-0).
In the first period, although dominating by obtaining many chances, Manchester City failed to open the scoring. Yet Rodri saw his shot hit the post (33rd) and executives Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva multiplied the opportunities (19th, 25th, 31st). West Ham’s block held firm in defence. In Liverpool, Mohamed Salah managed to open the scoring from the penalty spot after a foul by Issa Diop on Darwin Nunez (39th, 1-0).

Haaland’s record 35th goal
In the second act, the Citizens came back showing much better offensive intentions from a point of view of realism and efficiency. Thanks to a superb free-kick serve from Mahrez, Nathan Aké managed to regain a header to open the scoring (50th, 1-0). Erling Haaland then offered his goal (the 35th in the Premier League this season, a new record) face-to-face, perfectly served by Jack Grealish and perfectly concluded at the limit of offside by the Norwegian (70th, 2 -0). Barely came into play, Phil Foden came to catch a volley at the entrance to the surface with an unstoppable effect for Fabianski (85th, 3-0). At Anfield, the Reds looked for the break goal in vain. Fortunately for Jurgen Klopp’s men, Fulham did not take advantage of it to equalize.
With these results, Manchester City overtakes Arsenal and is now at the top of the standings. Liverpool are in 5th position and continue their recovery for Europe. Fulham are 10th, while West Ham have to settle for a meager 15th place.
