Manchester City – Inter Milan: Rodri’s goal and Ederson’s saves which offer the coronation to the Citizens

That’s it, Manchester City is holding its first Champions League. Unhappy finalists in 2021, the Citizens did not miss their chance this time, Saturday evening in Istanbul, against Inter Milan (1-0). A consecration for the Mancunian club, which has been chasing since its takeover by Abu Dhabi in 2008, and for its coach Pep Guardiola, who had not won it since leaving Barça more than ten years ago.

The City players won after a closed match, during which they had to be patient. The deliverance finally came from the feet of Rodrigo, who took over with a perfect flat foot a ball badly repelled by the Italian defense.

If Manchester was able to keep this small goal in advance, it owes it largely to its goalkeeper Ederson, author of two magnificent and decisive saves at the end of the match. The first in the 88th minute, on a close range header from Lukaku, who could also (should) have placed it better.

The second in the depths of stoppage time, again on a header, this time from Gosens who had cut well at the near post on the corner of the last chance.

After that, there was nothing left to do but run in all directions to celebrate this long-awaited title.
