A woman and a man appear before the criminal court of Hérault from this Wednesday. He is accused of having raped his companion’s adopted daughter for years. She is being prosecuted for non-denunciation of the facts.
The path of the victim is a succession of dramas. In 2010, his father murdered his mother with a gun, before killing himself a few weeks later in his cell. With her little sister, she had been taken in by her aunt, her mother’s sister, who had then taken the steps to adopt her.
Children’s inheritance money used to buy a house
At the age of 10, she would have been the victim of the first rapes by her companion. Rapes first committed in Gaillac, in the Tarn, where the couple lived. Then to Béziers where he had come to settle. To add a little more darkness to this affair, the investigation revealed that this house would have been bought with the money of the inheritance supposed to go to the two children.
The victim filed a complaint in 2020, shortly after his majority. The man denies the rape charges. The woman’s statements evolved over the course of the investigation.
Composed solely of professional judges, the criminal court is competent to judge adults accused of crimes punishable by a sentence of fifteen to twenty years in prison. She must deliver her verdict this Friday, at the end of the three days of debates.
