Man sentenced for dragging motorist who rescued him

She thought she was helping a man who was sick. But when she put her arm in the passenger compartment of the car, this caregiver saw the drowsy motorist wake up and accelerate, dragging her for several meters. Tuesday, October 4, a 39-year-old man was sentenced to four months in prison suspended by the court of Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine), as the reports West France. The facts took place in March 2021 in Dinard. The man had visibly fallen asleep, his head on the steering wheel at the entrance to a roundabout, causing the serious concern of the driver who was behind him.

With the engine still running, the motorist accelerated, dragging the woman for several meters. Already convicted several times for traffic offenses including drunk driving, the man was absent from the hearing. His victim is still on sick leave, a year and a half after the fact.
