A man was rescued dead from the Regnitz in Fürth, Central Franconia. Passers-by had previously discovered a lifeless person in the river, a police spokesman said on Thursday.
Fire brigade, water rescue and rescue services brought the body to shore on Wednesday evening. The background to the incident is still completely unclear, said the spokesman. The man’s identity could not yet be clarified.
The public prosecutor’s office was due to decide on an autopsy on the body on Thursday. So far it is not possible to say how long the body has been in the water. The criminal police in Fürth are investigating.
