A 24-year-old driver races through Bierstrasse – and tries to drive passers-by away. Tourists confront the man. He then breaks the jaw of a German vacationer.

A driver hit a German vacationer at Ballermann and broke the jaw of another with a punch. The South American raced at high speed through Carrer Miquel Pellisa, better known as Bierstraße, on Playa de Palma, the police said on Wednesday. Honking, he tried to drive away passers-by in the traffic-calmed street and spat on a group of German vacationers through the side window.

When the tourists then confronted the man at around 2 a.m. on Saturday, the 24-year-old got out of the car and punched a German, the police said. He fell to the ground and lay unconscious. A broken jaw was diagnosed at the hospital.

Arrest after attempted escape

During a subsequent attempt to escape, the man from Paraguay also hit a German, who, however, sustained no serious injuries. He had been given medical care. After the speeder collided with a parked car, he was arrested. He was charged with assault and property damage. Why the South American was so aggressive was not disclosed.

At the end of April, the party season at Ballermann began with the opening celebrations of the big discotheques. Since then, Playa de Palma has been well visited by German holidaymakers again.
