Several German vacationers have been in prison on Mallorca for a good two months. It’s about an allegation of gang rape. One of them has now been released.

A dish on Mallorca has released from custody one of the five young holidaymakers from Germany who are accused of taking part in a gang rape.

A lawyer confirmed upon request that a deposit of 10,000 euros had previously been paid for him. The “Mallorca Zeitung” and other media also reported accordingly. The released man was able to credibly demonstrate that he was not involved in the alleged rape of an 18-year-old German woman on the night of July 13th. However, he may have to answer for failing to provide assistance.

Victims reported men

The victim reported the men from North Rhine-Westphalia – all in their early twenties and from the Märkischer Kreis in Sauerland – to the police just hours after the crime. Shortly afterwards, the police initially arrested six Germans. One of them was released two days later.

The Germans have rejected the accusation and emphasized that it was consensual sex. According to information from the “Mallorca Zeitung”, the man who has now been released is now said to have returned to Germany. It is unclear how long the other four suspects will have to remain in prison. Pretrial detention in Spain can last months and even years. The public prosecutor’s office in Hagen has also been investigating the case since the end of July.
