In the course of drinking tourism, violence is apparently also increasing in Mallorca. After a bouncer attacked German tourists by bouncers, the police initiated investigations without reporting them.

The beating scenes you see on the from the “Mallorca-Zeitung” published video, are brutal. It is said to be an attack by bouncers of a Ballermann beer garden on German tourists. A man is hit in the face with his fist, a presumed vacationer lying on the ground is kicked not reimbursed.Nevertheless, the police on the Spanish holiday island have started investigations based on the video published two days earlier.

Such incidents, which according to reports in regional media have recently increased at Ballermann, are taken very seriously. The “Mallorca Zeitung” wrote that this was the third major confrontation between doormen and German tourists this season. In the wake of complaints from entrepreneurs and local residents that the drinking tourism is getting worse and worse, the violent excesses are apparently also increasing.

The victims have not yet come forward

The video recordings are said to be from June 15th. They were only leaked to the newspaper on Monday by an eyewitness. It also shows how the attackers, armed with batons, chase their victims through the streets. They also instruct passers-by who are filming not to make any video recordings.

The reason for the brutal approach: Two of the holidaymakers are said to have disregarded the smoking ban in the restaurant and did not react to warnings from the staff. According to the “Mallorca Zeitung”, which relies on eyewitnesses, the tourists are footballers from a Black Forest club. The victims have not yet spoken out and, according to the authorities, have not yet been identified. It can also be assumed that they have since flown back home.

This complicates the investigation. It was “difficult because we don’t know the victims and we haven’t received any reports. We now have to evaluate the extent to which bodily harm has occurred,” said a police spokesman. In an interview with the “Mallorca Zeitung”, he asked that the victims report to the authorities. You could do that in Germany too. The case will then be officially forwarded.

The nerves are blank on the island

The beer garden in the so-called Schinkenstraße, for which the bouncers reportedly work, had not given a statement by Wednesday, even on request. However, the “Mallorca Zeitung” claims to have learned that the restaurant fired one of the men who can be seen beating on the video.

Whether the beating attack will have further consequences is in the stars. What is certain, however, is that nerves on the island are on edge. It was only in June that the hoteliers’ and restaurants’ association and the nightclub association of Playa warned of an “unsustainable” and “alarming” situation in a joint appeal and demanded tougher penalties from the authorities.

The gastro entrepreneur and president of the Palma Beach quality offensive, Juan Ferrer, recently complained in an interview with the German Press Agency that the “Ballermann” simply “broke their toys”. The residents’ association of the S’Arenal district, to which Ballermann belongs, also complains about the increasingly poor behavior of many foreign vacationers.
