Present at the neighborhood rugby tournament in Marcoussis (Essonne) this Friday, the Minister of Sports indicated, in comments reported by RMC Sports, that there are “7% of residences [étudiantes] in Ile-de-France, where students will be affected by leaving their accommodation in July and August, for all public service agents who are essential to the organization of the Games.
On September 1, students will be able to return to their accommodation
All students who will have to leave their accommodation will benefit from “nearby accommodation, at no extra cost and with support if there are possible moving costs on this occasion”, assured the Minister of Sports, who requests that all the world is making “efforts so that the organization of the Olympic Games can be as smooth as possible. We really tried to have the best anticipation with them, to find solutions for each of them for their rehousing, by supporting them financially and ensuring that from September 1, everyone can return to their accommodation. »
“Every year, in Île-de-France, 30% of Crous housing, or 6,000 apartments, find themselves unoccupied during the summer because students stop their lease for various reasons,” recalled Sylvie Retailleau, the Minister of Higher Education. She also assured that “1,667 housing units in the Olympic village and the media village”, including “1,300 in Seine-Saint-Denis”, will be converted into student housing after the Paris Olympic Games, starting from the “first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.
