The Civey Institute interviewed a good 2,000 people in February and March.
The Climate Neutral Germany initiative is funded by the European Climate Foundation, a foundation that works, among other things, for climate protection. Depending on the intention to vote in the next state election, however, the assessment varies – even in the current government: Among the supporters of the CSU, approval slightly outweighs 48.5 to 46.9 percent. Among the free voters, on the other hand, rejection predominates with 52.1 to 38.3 percent.
The supporters of the Greens with 98.8 percent, the SPD with 84.8 percent and the Left with 80.1 percent want clearly more activity for the climate. The desire for more climate protection also prevails in the FDP, with 62.5 percent agreeing to the question. Skepticism is much greater among AfD voters: 85 percent reject the statement.
Location, on the other hand, does not play such a big role in preference: 61.2 percent agreed in areas with high population density, 54.5 percent in medium-density areas and 58.3 percent in low-density areas. In any case, the topic has an influence on the upcoming state elections. 52 percent said it was very or rather important for their voting decision whether candidates are committed to a clean and sustainable energy supply. This was again most pronounced among Green Party voters, at 98 percent, followed by SPD (78 percent), Left Party (75 percent), FDP (43 percent), CSU (39 percent) and Free Voters (30 percent). The topic plays the least role among supporters of the AfD with eleven percent.
