Searches and arrests in large-scale operations in eight federal states
The police are taking action against international smugglers with a major raid on Wednesday morning. Ten arrest warrants have been executed.
More than 1,000 officers have been searching 101 residential and commercial premises since the morning, including two law firms. There are operations in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, Hamburg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Schleswig-Holstein.
Arrest warrants against lawyers in major raid against smugglers
By taking advantage of special regulations for foreign skilled workers, the suspected smuggling gang is said to have wrongly obtained residence permits for around 350 mostly Chinese nationals in exchange for five- and six-figure sums, the federal police and public prosecutor’s office said. Arrest warrants had been obtained in advance against the ten arrested. Among them are a lawyer and a lawyer.
