According to information from SWR, Mayor of Mainz Michael Ebling is to succeed Roger Lewentz (both SPD), Minister of the Interior of Rhineland-Palatinate, who resigned yesterday.
Prime Minister Malu Dreyer (SPD) will officially announce the new department head this afternoon. As announced by the President of the State Parliament, Hendrik Hering, the topic “Confirmation and swearing-in of a new member of the state government” has been put on the agenda for the current session.
Lewentz had resigned because of criticism of his crisis management during the flood disaster in the Ahr valley.
