FSV Mainz 05 has extended Edimilson Fernandes’ contract until 2026.
FSV Mainz 05 have extended Edimilson Fernandes’ expiring contract by four years. The Rheinhessen announced this on the sidelines of the last first round game against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Three years ago, FSV put 7.5 million euros on the table for Fernandes’ services (came from West Ham United). Today the Swiss is worth far less, but at least it is on the up.
Fernandes’ time in Mainz was characterized by many weak phases through which the midfielder had to fight. Last year, Fernandes was loaned out by Club Fernandes first to Arminia Bielefeld and then to Young Boys Bern. This season, the 26-year-old surprisingly came into focus again and has now also been nominated for the Swiss World Cup squad.

Fernandes himself is happy about his development in Mainz and thanked head coach Bo Svensson in particular in the course of the contract extension:
“I’m very happy about my contract extension in Mainz.
