Magnetic boxes & Co.: Space-saving solutions for spices
Magnetic spice jars save a lot of space in the kitchen

Whether salt or pepper, curry or paprika powder: Every household has a basic stock of spices. Ambitious amateur chefs even have far more flavors to taste and experiment with. But what to do with all the cans if the kitchen doesn’t offer much storage space?
There are a variety of space-saving solutions for small kitchens: from practical brackets for doors to narrow shelves for walls to magnetic jars for spices. The latter require little to no storage space, as they stick to (almost) all kitchen appliances that are powered by electric motors – and thus contain magnets. In other words, the refrigerator and the stove, the washing machine and the dryer are magnetic in most cases and therefore offer enough space for your spice jars. Alternatively, magnetic shelves and magnetic strips also offer storage space for stainless steel containers. In the following we present the possibilities.
1. Magnetic spice jars
Due to their adhesive properties, these can be spice jars easily attach to magnetic objects such as the fridge. The lids are transparent so that you can easily identify the flavors you want when preparing your food. Smaller and larger quantities can also be portioned via two different openings. In order to better distinguish similar-looking spices from each other, in this set (and others too) supplied the same matching labels.
2. Magentic Spice Rack
If you have a large stock of spices for which you do not want to buy new containers, there is also a practical solution: a self-adhesive one spice rack made of metal, which has magnetic properties and can therefore also be attached to the refrigerator – without any drilling. It offers space for various spices or small bottles and cans. This set of 2 also includes additional hooks that you can attach to the outside of the shelf. In this set even spice jars are included.
3. Magnetic kitchen bar
If you only have a few kitchen appliances that are magnetic, there is a third space-saving solution: a self-adhesive one Bar made of stainless steel or bamboo, originally intended for knife storage, can easily be repurposed. All you have to do is attach these to a wall (without drilling), preferably near the stove, and attach the magnetic cans to it. The 40 centimeter long bar offers space for several spices next to each other. Providers such as WMF also offer magnetic strips.
