“Our working conditions are still just as difficult and the exhaustion of all is gaining ground”, denounce in a press release the Union of the Magistracy (USM, majority) and the Union of the Judiciary (SM, classified on the left).
Gatherings in Paris and in the regions
The two unions call on November 22 for “hearing referrals” and rallies in Paris and “in the regions”, “in order to make visible the state of the courts one year after the tribune”. “This mobilization will be inter-union and inter-professional, the registry officials and lawyers being associated with this event”, they add.
On November 23, 2021, the publication of a tribune of magistrates, alerting on the malaise and the suffering at work, had aroused an unprecedented national mobilization of the actors of the judicial world demanding more means. In particular, it led to the holding of the Estates General of Justice, which must be followed at the end of November by the announcement of a government action plan.
“Historic” increase of 8% of the budget
But the two unions believe that, while the Keeper of the Seals Eric Dupond-Moretti highlights the “historic” 8% increase in the justice budget, “as professionals who practice on a daily basis, we measure on the contrary the inadequacy of the measures taken”.
“Faced with a titanic workload, we are always forced to downgrade the quality of our decisions in criminal and civil cases, to use our leave and our right to training to deliver justice within acceptable timeframes,” they say. .
