Magath relies on Sturm-Juwel Winkler – BZ Berlin

Will he be Hertha’s secret joker in the relegation battle? In the Harsewinkel training camp, Juwel Marten Winkler (19) has a surprising name in the squad.

The talent received from coach Felix Magath (68) the chance to show himself to the pros.

Winkler was chosen by Magath because he has special abilities. The offensive all-rounder can play as a hanging striker, center forward or outside attacker.

AND: He’s faster than everyone else Hertha-Attacker.

Shortly after arriving at Hertha, Magath is said to have asked the U23s about other offensive players. The choice fell on Winkler, who was last in the professional squad against Hoffenheim (3-0).

His advantage: he is unencumbered by the weak season of the pros. In the regional league he scored 7 goals in 17 games, scoring every 148 minutes. Corona and an injury prevented more goals.

In the training camp, it is noticeable how intensively Hertha’s officials take care of Winkler (last called by the U20 national team). assistant coach Mark Fotheringham (38) gives him many tips.

Magath also sought a one-to-one conversation with Winkler!
