Issa Doumbia hosts Show Me Your Voice. – Nicolas GOUHIER / M6

  • M6 is broadcasting this Thursday at 9:05 p.m. the first issue of Show Me Your Voice moderated by Issa Doumbia.
  • In this game, a variation of a South Korean concept, two candidates must, with the help of a panel of personalities, discover who, among the nine people facing them, sings well and who sings like a pan. Twenty thousand euros are at stake.
  • “It’s the big comeback of games on M6. You can play with the family, ”promises Guillaume Charles, the channel’s director general of programs.

Is the “queen of soul” as good a singer as she says she is? Is the bodybuilder a cador of the variety or should he forget any dream of reconversion in the song? These are the kinds of questions that the public Show Me Your Voice (literally: “Show me your voice”) will be asked to arise over the program launched this Thursday, at 9:05 pm, on M6. In the meantime, here’s what you need to know about this new game hosted by Issa Doumbia …

A creation of the Land of the Morning Calm

Declined in 19 countries, for some 800 episodes and 39 seasons, the concept of Show Me Your Voice was designed in South Korea, as Mask Singer, moreover, proof that this peninsula shows a know-how in the field of television entertainment. Over there the show is called I Can See Your Voice (“I can see your voice”). “We wanted to simplify the title. Show Me Your Voice seemed to sound better to us, ”advance Renaud Rahard, program director at Warner Bros Productions TV France, considering an English-speaking title to be more“ effective ”. Issa Doumbia comes to the rescue: “There is the notion of the show, too. Each time, the performances are fun. The title goes well with this idea. “

A family game

“In the Korean format, there is not a duo of candidates who come to win 20,000 euros. We oriented the program towards play, ”continues Renaud Rahar. The rules ? Nine people, mostly designated by their profession (waiter, ready-to-wear seller, drag-queen), are gathered on the set. Among them, some have real vocal skills but others are unable to sing in tune. The two candidates of the evening must, over the tests, feeling and with clues, but without ever hearing the voices of potential singers, eliminate the impostors. If the last pseudo-artist still in the running at the end of the game is not a pot, the duo of players will have succeeded in their mission and will pocket the money. “It’s the big comeback of games on M6,” proclaims the channel’s director general of programs. What we liked was the fact that everyone can play: we can play as a family. The variety aspect has not been completely neglected. Each eliminated pushes the song before turning his heels, and all are entitled to a staging a bit worked, with dancers. “We offer the same setting to radioactive pans – which we are happy to listen to – as to others,” promises Renaud Rahard.

Issa Doumbia as Mr. Loyal

If he has already animated The 100 videos that made the whole world laugh on W9, another channel of the M6 group, Issa Doumbia adds a more consistent line to his CV with this entertainment in prime time. “He has a very special relationship to the viewer and to the family audience,” says Guillaume Charles. “This program would not have been carried out in the same way if we had not had this meeting with Issa who sees things as in a theater company. He took ownership of the project, he got involved. We made it together, ”greets Renaud Rahard. “I was listened to as much as I was able to listen,” says Issa Doumbia. It’s the first show I’m doing where there’s such a fusion. He clarifies: “As master of ceremonies, I knew everything that was going to happen, from the light to the sound, but I didn’t know who the good singers were and who the others were. So he got caught up in the game himself.

A panel of artists

The two candidates will be supported by a handful of personalities. For the first show: Hélène Ségara, Eric Antoine, Philippe Lellouche, Elodie Frégé and Claudio Capéo as special guest. “These celebrities are there to advise and help, but in a relaxed way. They don’t have to decide on eliminations. It brings a lot of fun, ”says Renaud Rahar. Issa Doumbia confirms that on the set, the atmosphere was far from sinister. “Philippe Lellouche really made me laugh,” relates the host. Claudio Capéo, it was the first time that I met him. He’s a love, he invested himself as an investigator throughout the whole thing and he was throwing floods on people too. Are you kidding? Well sing now!
