The handling today is the same as it was 30 years ago.” In order to counteract the labor shortage, digitalization, automation and artificial intelligence must be promoted. Munich is Lufthansa’s second largest hub. For years, Lufthansa managers had criticized its larger Frankfurt base for a lack of punctuality and efficiency. From the company’s perspective, there is progress here. According to its airline boss Jens Ritter, Lufthansa cannot grow as desired because of the bottlenecks on the ground. This and the ongoing shortage of new aircraft are resulting in very strong demand, particularly for long-distance travel. Lufthansa will continue to grow, but based on the experience of previous years, it will not overload the entire system.
