For almost 35 years he gave the Dr. Dressler in the ARD early evening series “Lindenstrasse”. The actor Ludwig Haas died at the age of 88.

Sad news for all fans of “Lindenstrasse”: Actor Ludwig Haas, who won the Dr. Dressler, who played in the popular TV series, died at the age of 88. Haas’ widow confirmed the death to the magazine “Das neue Blatt”. “Ludwig felt pressure in his chest. The doctors inserted a stent for him. A few hours after the operation he suddenly felt worse. He died at three in the night,” says Marianne Simon-Haas. Haas died on September 4th in a hospital in his hometown of Neumünster, as his daughter Franca Haas confirmed to the German press agency.

Ludwig Haas can look back on a long career: the actor, born in Eutin, Schleswig-Holstein, in 1933, attended the Hamburg University of Music and Theater from 1951 to 1953 after graduating from high school. He made his first TV appearances in the 60s in the family series “You write with”, in the 70s and 80s he was occasionally seen in crime series such as “Tatort” or “A case for two”.

On December 8, 1985, he played the role that would shape his future life for the first time: Haas played the doctor Dr. Ludwig Dressler. In the decades to come, Haas was part of the ensemble of the popular soap that was broadcast on Sundays after the “Sportschau”.

As one of the few actors, Haas was part of the regular cast of “Lindenstrasse” – and only left shortly before the end. In episode 1754, broadcast on March 1, 2020, the doctor, who had been in a wheelchair for a long time, voluntarily passed his life with the help of a tablet cocktail. Only four weeks later, “Lindenstrasse” also ended, after almost 35 years.

Ludwig Haas then ended his career, which in the meantime also made him internationally known: He played the role of Adolf Hitler several times, in 1988 in the star-studded American television film “Busted Chains – The Revenge of the Prisoners”, in 1992 in the US thriller “Wie ein Light in a dark night “and a year later in the French film” Pétain “.

Haas is said to have been buried with his closest family in the Baltic Sea.
