Lucas Cordalis embodies his deceased father, hit legend Costa Cordalis, in the new series “The King of Palma”.

Lucas Cordalis (54), the son of the late Schlager legend Costa Cordalis (1944-2019, “Anita”), will embody his famous father in a new series. The first photos that the broadcaster has already published show Lucas as Costa in “The King of Palma”, the working title of the six-part RTL + format.

No biopic

The series is not a biopic, instead, according to the announcement, it tells how the Balearic island of Mallorca became a glamorous, extravagant and at the same time frightening tourist stronghold in the early 1990s. And how hard-fought the million dollar business with the reunified Germans was back then.

The six-part family drama was shot in Mallorca between April and July 2021. Henning Baum (49, “The Last Bull”) plays the main role Matti Adler. In addition to Baum and Cordalis, Sandra Borgmann (47, “Tatort: Long Live the King!”), Martin Semmelrogge (66, “Das Boot”) and Sönke Möhring (49, “Inglourious Basterds”) can be seen in the series.

This is what “The King of Palma” is about

Post-Wende, upswing, party mood: After the wall came down, mass tourism on Mallorca is booming – and the Adler family emigrate to open a small beer garden on the famous Playa de Palma. The inconspicuous shop quickly experienced a meteoric rise. But the Adlers have to push more and more boundaries to ensure success. Soon they find themselves in a whirlwind of bribery, extortion and violence from which they can no longer escape…

“The King of Palma” starts on February 24th on RTL+, later in the year the series will be shown on RTL.
