Sex in films is often poorly portrayed, says Hollywood star Kristen Stewart. Her filming partner Katy O’Brian explains what can help.

The American actress Kristen Stewart wants more authentic sex scenes in the film. “The usual, just simulated sex thing is so unimaginative,” the 33-year-old told US broadcaster NBC News. Most of the intimate scenes felt like the actors said to themselves, “Okay, we have to make out and have sex now. That’s just not the way people have sex and I’m so tired of seeing it.”

Her film partner Katy O’Brian from the new romantic thriller “Love Lies Bleeding” explained: “We obviously worked with an intimacy coordinator and we talked about the scenes and comfort zones.” She hopes people take away from the film “to ask sexual partners what they like,” she said.

“Love Lies Bleeding” is a thriller about two women who meet at a gym and whose romantic relationship spirals out of control. The film by director Rose Glass premiered at the Sundance Festival and was then also shown at the Berlinale.
