Netflix’s second live broadcast after Chris Rock’s stand-up show went awry. The fans of “Love is blind” looked in the tube.
Netflix failed to broadcast live. The streaming service wanted to broadcast the reunion show of its successful dating format “Love Makes Blind” live in the United States on Sunday. But the users who called up the stream at the announced time saw nothing. It took an hour for the program to be ready – in recorded form. Some users reported according to media reports even then delays.
Netflix apologizes to users
Netflix apologized via Twitter among users in the different time zones of the United States. “To all those who stayed up late, got up early, sacrificed their Sunday afternoon: We are incredibly sorry that the ‘Love Makes Blind’ live reunion didn’t turn out as we had planned,” it says in the text. “We are in the process of filming it and will be showing it on Netflix as soon as humanly possible. Again, thanks and sorry.”
The disappointed users still vented their anger. “You should rather send DVDs again, that suited your speed better”. Netflix started out as a DVD delivery service in 1997.
Second live attempt after Chris Rock
After the group established itself with streaming, it now wants to increasingly compete with TV with live broadcasts. The reunion show for the fourth season of “Love Makes Blind” was the second failed attempt at a live stream. It started with the broadcast of Chris Rock’s (58) stand-up show “Selective Outrage” in March 2023.
“Love makes you blind”: We also record the reunion
Netflix has been successfully poaching the dating show business since 2020 with “Love Makes You Blind”. In the format moderated by the couple Vanessa (42) and Nick Lachey (49), singles flirt in separate cabins without seeing each other. When the chemistry is right and a special connection is formed, they get engaged and only then see their chosen one in a big meeting for the first time. The engaged couple then has to face the daily reality check and plan the wedding. At the altar it is decided whether love really is blind. The first season premiered in February 2020, the second two years later, and the third in October 2022.
In Germany, Netflix has gradually made the fourth season of “Love Makes Blind” available in recent weeks. The “live reunion” should also be available in this country. There is already a tab on Netflix, but it is not yet in focus.
