Lost Ark cracks 1.3 million players on Steam

The new MMORPG Lost Ark was released on February 11th for free for all players. Unfortunately, the launch was postponed until late at night, which is why a new record has now been set.

What happened? After violent technical problems on the launch day the game could only actually go live several hours after the planned release.

Although our servers started in the middle of the night, around 1 a.m., Lost Ark an incredible 984,000 concurrent players attract. That was already around 70,000 more than the biggest MMORPG competitor New World had reached at its best. However, you have to mention that you had to buy New World and you can play Lost Ark for free.

But the number could not be reached that close to the magic million yesterday. About an hour after the release, the number of players started to drop again. Nevertheless, Lost Ark already reached about 5 times more players than the boss expected.

updated: We’ve updated the article to the current numbers and last updated at 9pm on February 12th.

Now the record is broken: As of February 12 at 8:50 p.m., Lost Ark was able to pull over 1.3 million concurrent players into the MMORPG, and that’s only via Steam. There has only been one other title on the platform that has been able to do that.

Lost Ark now ranks directly behind PUBG with 3.3 million concurrent players, currently with 1.308 million concurrent fans. It could now also leave Dota 2 and CSGO behind, which are now just behind the MMORPG.

Lost Ark is the first MMORPG to break the one million player mark on Steam. However, you can tell by the queues. Currently the servers are absolutely full and new players are having a hard time even getting started.

Is it the first MMORPG that was able to achieve that? No, but the first, which it also achieves in a comprehensible and recognizable way on the Steam platform. According to their own statements, the Asia MMORPG MIR 4 reached over one million concurrent gamers.

This is also conceivable with the other major MMORPGs, but there are no exact numbers for FFXIV and WoW.

Successful on Twitch: Lost Ark breaks records, but not only on Steam. The game is also going through the roof on Twitch. The Lost Ark category has attracted over a million viewers twice already, on February 8th and 11th.

The game also breaks the records of genre colleagues like New World or World of Warcraft. The streamer alone Asmongold had over 420,000 concurrent viewers during the server downtime on February 11th. That was more than the entire League of Legends category at the time.

On February 12 at 9 p.m., Lost Ark is again the largest category on Twitch with over 600,000 viewers.

At 21:00 Lost Ark can delight 1,30,054 concurrent players.

How is the game doing? The game is doing quite well on Steam. It’s a long way from the 96% positive ratings before launch and all the problems on February 11th though. With 18,739 reviews, Lost Ark currently has a “Mostly Positive” stamp and 73% of the ratings are good.

However, many negative reviews refer to the ongoing server problems, queues and shop collapses that exist ingame. Another major criticism is that Some servers will be blocked for new players and then they can’t gamble with their friends.

Do you think Lost Ark will continue to rise or do you think the MMORPG will fall again soon? How many players do you think will remain loyal to Lost Ark and continue to trudge through the world of Arkesia, even after the initial hype? Write it to us in the comments at MeinMMO.

The Starter pack for the Free2Play MMORPG Lost Ark was also able to fight for number 1 of the Steam top sellers again – but you might not get what you expect.
