A well thought-out long bathroom

To successfully design your bathroom in length, everything often starts with a paper and a pencil. Because to succeed in your move, it is essential to take into account two elements:

  • The position of the front door;
  • The position (or absence) of the window.

The secret of a well-appointed long bathroom is indeed tailor-made: it is about composing the layout of the room according to its particularities.

A side entrance door has the advantage of freeing three sections of the wall, which allows an ideal U-shaped configuration to optimize space. Depending on the dimensions of the room, you can opt for a common configuration:

  • The basin on the left or on the right;
  • The toilets on the opposite wall;
  • The bathtub facing the door.

The storage is then distributed on either side of the door.

In the case of a long bathroom extending from the front door, it is common to place the shower or the bathtub at the bottom, in order to save space. This configuration can be accompanied by work on the wallcovering – opting for a pattern or tile format intended to visually expand the space.

When a long bathroom has sufficient width, we can dare the basin and the bathtub (or the Italian shower) on either side. Depending on the depth of the room, it is possible to opt for an alternative:

  • The washbasin cabinet on the left or on the right;
  • A large closet in front;
  • A shower or a bathtub facing the door.

Whether applying makeup or shaving closely, it is essential to take advantage of optimal lighting in the bathroom. All the more reason to take natural light into account!

  Window Position

This long, contemporary bathroom benefits from an interesting exposure and a window of good size: we have therefore installed the basin and its mirror near the window in order to take full advantage of the natural light.

White And Mirror

It is not uncommon for the hallway bathroom to have no window as well. Here, we opted for a total immaculate white look. The careful work of the lights is coupled with a judicious choice of the mirror, which offers a 90 ° angle. If it fulfills the classic function of a mirror located above the basin, it also serves to enlarge the space and boost the brightness.

Brightness

One of the challenges of the long bathroom: to provide functional and homogeneous lighting. This white and wood bathroom has an XXL depth. Although it has a window, we have worked carefully on the lighting, in particular at the level of the basin – slightly recessed – and the front door, which is the area furthest from the window and, therefore, the darker.

Long bathroom: what if we pushed back the walls?

The long bathroom is by definition narrow, which can quickly give the impression of suffocating. Fortunately, it is possible to use a few tricks to reshape the space.

This windowless bathroom in length falls off the partition, to have a glass roof. Obviously gaining in brightness, the room also seems larger. An impression reinforced by the judicious use of an accent wall.

Shower And Ceiling To Structure The Room

In this very contemporary black and wood bathroom, we opted for the square Italian shower. Tray and ceiling were chosen in a white contrasting with the rest of the decor: a trick that owes nothing to chance! Separating the space into two square areas breaks the hallway effect, and the room appears wider.

  Line Game

A high ceiling height is likely to accentuate the corridor effect of the bathroom in length. To remedy this, it would be tempting to use a false ceiling. Bad idea: it would make a stifling impression. The trick: create a play of lines and volumes, to visually expand the room.

A Partition To Break The Depth

If the length of the bathroom offers interesting perspectives, it’s all about measurement. Here, the Italian shower is partly hidden behind a partition, which is enough to break the hallway effect and give character to the room.

What furniture for a long bathroom?

In a long space, it is important not to overload the space visually, and to be able to come and go comfortably. To arrange the bathroom in length, we therefore take the time to choose the furniture with the greatest care.

The mirror is a precious ally to boost brightness and enlarge a small space. In the long bathroom, it is used without moderation, for example by choosing reflective cupboard doors.
