Contrary to the lockdown rules, British officials celebrated lavish parties at 10 Downing Street amid the corona pandemic. Now the first fines could come to them.

According to media reports, the London police want to impose the first fines in the Partygate affair about lockdown violations in the British seat of government Downing Street on Tuesday. This was reported, among other things, by the BBC late Monday evening, citing police circles.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson came under massive pressure earlier this year over alleged lockdown parties in Downing Street. However, the start of a police investigation into the matter prevented a much-anticipated internal report by top official Sue Gray from being released in full.

The Metropolitan Police are focusing on twelve events that allegedly violated the Corona rules in force at the time. Johnson is also said to have been present at several. It is therefore eagerly awaited whether the prime minister will also be fined.
