The hit show “LOL: Last One Laughing” will return in 2023. In the Christmas special, familiar faces meet changed rules.

The popular Prime Video show “LOL: Last One Laughing” is getting a special edition for the first time this year. On time too There will be a “XMAS Special” at Christmas 2023 – and when is it harder not to laugh than in the middle of the contemplative time? For the special edition of the Amazon production, presenter Michael Bully Herbig (55) assembled an all-star team from the previous four regular seasons. Some stars are even there for the fourth time.

For example Anke Engelke (57). The comedian has been part of the format since the very beginning and won the third edition after two midfield placements in the first two seasons. Kurt Krömer (48) will also try to suppress his laughter for the fourth time during the Christmas special. He also took part in the first two seasons and shared victory with Michael Mittermeier (57) in season four.

The other eight celebrities include Bastian Pastewka (51), Carolin Kebekus (43), Martina Hill (49), Michelle Hunziker (46), Teddy Teclebrhan (40) and Rick Kavanian (52). While the special edition will stick to the basic rules of the show, there is a big innovation: the stars will not compete as individual fighters, but in teams of two. The pairings where no eye in the eye should remain dry: Pastewka & Engelke, Kebekus & Teclebrhan, Hill & Krömer and Hunziker & Kavanian.

In the special episode, the winners will also receive prize money of 50,000 euros, which will of course be donated to a good cause.

A globally successful format

The first season of “LOL” was released in April 2021 and is the implementation of an originally Japanese format. In the original, ten people also try to make each other laugh, but without twisting the corners of their mouths. The German adaptation was so popular that three more seasons and now the Christmas special followed within two years. In 2022 there was also the German Television Award in the “Best Comedy/Late Night” category. A fifth season for next year has already been decided.
