The district of Munich is still an attractive location for companies. This is the result of the latest location ranking of the company portal “Die Deutsche Wirtschaft”, in which the importance of individual municipalities for medium-sized companies, family and foreign companies and investors is determined. Accordingly, the municipality of Ismaning is a particularly popular location for business, the municipality ranks 108th in the Germany-wide evaluation of more than 3800 places; Vinnolit, the world’s leading manufacturer of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), with around 1,400 employees, is listed as the absolute top company in the northern municipality. A total of 22 so-called top companies have their headquarters in Ismaning – these include Antenne Bayern, Sport 1 and Home Shopping Europe (HSE).
The actual media municipality of Unterföhring, whose top company is Sky Deutschland, ranks well behind the neighboring municipality of Ismaning in 194th place, which is still an outstanding position in Germany. But other municipalities in the district leave Unterföhring behind in the location ranking. Unterschleißheim takes second place among the 29 towns and municipalities in the district, with 22 top companies in the whole of Germany in 119th place; closely followed by the municipality of Planegg in 121st place. The university town of Garching has moved up seven places to 122nd place, while Graefelfing is also at the top of the list at 131st place. Despite the disappearance of the bankrupt scandal company Wirecard, the municipality of Aschheim has also climbed eight places, also thanks to the company Hawe, which specializes in hydraulic solutions. The municipality of Oberhaching climbed 24 places in the ranking: the municipality secured 177th place in a Germany-wide comparison of locations.
