Local transport – great interest in 49-euro ticket – economy

According to a representative survey, there is great demand potential for the planned 49-euro ticket for local and regional transport: 41 percent of those surveyed said they would buy the ticket, 40 percent of car owners also expressed interest, as did almost a third of those surveyed, who currently do not have a monthly or other season ticket for local public transport. This is the result of a survey by the management consultancy PwC. It shows that public transport with the Deutschlandticket is likely to gain in importance as an alternative to the car, it said. However, the potential is greater in southern Germany than in the north and much greater in the metropolises than in the countryside. The demand is also lower for people with low incomes. With the introduction of the Germany ticket, the number of passengers is likely to increase sharply, not just in leisure traffic, it said. The nationwide usable ticket for buses and trains in local transport is to build on the popular 9-euro ticket from the summer. So far, the countries are aiming for April 1st as the start.
