Local transport: emergency timetable will be expanded – district of Munich

The lack of bus drivers in local public transport means that the emergency timetables have to be extended on several lines. On line 217 (Neuperlach-Süd – Unterhaching) there is a reduced 20/40-minute interval until at least August 31st, on line 219 (Garching-Hochbrück – Business Campus Süd) from August 1st to September 9th single trips during the day. The 259 bus (Pasing – Martinsried) will be throttled to a 20/40 minute cycle from August 1 to 31, line 265 will only run between Planegg and Steinkirchen every 40 minutes during this time. The district office points out that there may also be restrictions on other lines, such as lines 231, 236, 242 and 243. Many drivers are currently absent due to corona infections, and there is also a shortage of skilled workers. In order to counteract this, the Greens parliamentary group in the district council has requested that the tariffs for bus drivers in the Munich Transport and Tariff Association (MVV) be adjusted. In the Munich metropolitan area, with its high cost of living, standard wages are often not enough, according to Green Party leader Christoph Nadler. As a result, many skilled workers would migrate to regions with low prices.
