How is the departure going? Yvette Hartmann wants to give the answer in one of the factory buildings. “2019 was our best year in terms of passenger numbers,” says the board member of Rostocker Strassenbahn AG (RSAG). But during the pandemic, many Rostockers got back into their cars, and public transport fell by 20 percent. Bad timing. Because according to the plans of the federal government, the Germans should get out of the cars and onto the trains on a large scale. The calculation was that the climate targets would only be achieved with a boost in public transport.
