Moscow claims responsibility for the bombing of Brovary and says it “destroyed” an arms factory there
In the wake of the local authorities’ announcement, Moscow confirmed its bombardment at Brovary. According to this statement sent at the agency TassRussia says it targeted a munitions factory there and “destroyed” it.
The Russian Ministry of Defense thus announced, via the Telegram platform, that it had bombed the military factory in these terms:
“During the night, high-precision missiles launched by planes destroyed an ammunition factory near Brovary in the kyiv region”.
The mayor of Brovary Igor Sapojko said that “some infrastructure elements (had) been affected” in the early hours of Sunday. An AFP journalist on the spot did not observe any destruction, smoke or fire.
Without agreement with the Russians, no humanitarian corridor on Sunday, according to kyiv
Ukrainian authorities announced on Sunday the suspension of humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians from eastern Ukraine, for lack of an agreement with the Russian army on a halt to firing.
“This morning, we failed to negotiate a ceasefire on evacuation routes with the occupiers. That is why, unfortunately, we are not going to open humanitarian corridors today,” he said. Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said on Telegram. “We are sparing no effort to get humanitarian corridors back to work as soon as possible,” she added.
Iryna Vereshchuk also demanded the opening of an evacuation route for wounded soldiers from the city of Mariupol, devastated by the fighting.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned on Saturday that the “elimination” of the last Ukrainian soldiers present in Mariupol “would put an end to any peace negotiations” with Moscow.
Third Russian strike on kyiv and its surroundings in three days: Brovary targeted by a bombardment this morning
Brovary, about twenty kilometers east of Ukraine, suffered a Russian bombardment this morning. A “installation” and a local power plant were targeted according to the mayor of this city of 109,000 inhabitants, Ihor Sapozhko.
