An impressive procession
A serious atmosphere seized the British capital before the start of the solemn procession, with a millimetric process. The Imperial Crown was laid on Queen Elizabeth II’s oak coffin, carried on a gun carriage.
Elizabeth’s four children on the same line, William and Harry side by side
The coffin left the palace at 3:22 p.m., followed on foot by Elizabeth’s four children and, in the second line, by her grandsons William and Harry, reputed to be cold but side by side for this historic event. Note that Prince Andrew, stripped of his royal titles, and Prince Harry parade in civilian clothes, not in military uniform.
The wives of Elizabeth’s children and grandchildren followed the procession by car, and left Buckingham Palace later: Queen Consort Camilla, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.
Thousands of Britons lined the route to follow the funeral procession. The procession was applauded by the public as it approached Westminster Hall.
