Live: Selenskij is in Brussels and speaks in front of the EU Parliament – politics

London, Paris – and now the capital of the EU: Before attending the summit of heads of state and government, the Ukrainian President speaks in front of the EU Parliament. His appearance shortly in the live stream.

Barely a year after the Russian invasion of his country, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is in Brussels. There he will probably thank the EU allies for their help and ask for further support – not least with more heavy weapons. The first thing planned is a speech in front of the European Parliament, which is to begin at around 10 a.m. Zelensky then drives to the summit meeting of the 27 EU heads of state and government.

On Wednesday he first visited London, where he met British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and also gave a speech in front of Parliament. He then flew to Paris and spoke to President Emmanuel Macron and Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Just last week, the heads of the EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Council President Charles Michel-Zelenskij visited Kyiv. Ukraine is also pressing for the official negotiations on EU accession to be opened quickly. However, von der Leyen and Michel did not make any corresponding commitments.

Zelensky’s performance before the European Parliament will be live streamed here at around 10am.
