LIVE – MotoGP (Austria): Bagnaia in demonstration, Quartararo and Zarco finish far

Another victory for Bagnaia, in demonstration

Winner of the sprint on Saturday and starting from pole position, Francesco Bagnaia never let go of his head to win this Austrian Grand Prix this Sunday, the tenth meeting of the season. The Italian consolidates his status as leader of the world championship. Brad Binder and Marco Bezzecchi finished second and third respectively. Starting in ninth place, Fabio Quartararo finished the race in eighth place. Johann Zarco is 13th.

Situation unchanged at 2 turns

Bagnaia has a warning but it will probably not change anything between now and the last two laps.

Bagnaia continues his solo with five seconds of margin on Binder. Bezzecchi is in third position, Quartararo in ninth.

Quartararo returns to 9th position

The Frenchman overtook Enea Bastianini and is now in his original place. He was aiming for the top 7 at least, it will be complicated. 8 laps before the end.

More than two seconds ahead for Bagnaia

Francesco Bagnaia keeps a very fast pace, now pushing Brad Binder over two seconds. Another ten laps to complete his demonstration.

Good operation in sight for Bagnaia

As it stands, Francesco Bagnaia would have a 62-point lead in the standings. We will have to finish of course, with 13 laps still but the Italian could strike a blow after this weekend in Austria.

A new mindset for Quartararo

The 2021 world champion, who shows a new state of mind this weekend in Austria by claiming to no longer worry about the classification, took an encouraging 9th place in qualifying, two weeks after starting last on the grid at Silverstone (Great Britain).

During the sprint, his hopes of obtaining a good result unfortunately flew away at the first corner, after the very daring maneuver of Martin, who pushed him and caused the falls of several other pilots. If he did not fall, the Niçois was relegated to the back of the pack and finally finished 15th.

The starting grid

At the end of the morning on Saturday, the untouchable Bagnaia won his fifth pole position of the season, beating the Spaniard Maverick Vinales (Aprilia) by only 37 thousandths of a second.
