The phenomenon of intense rain particularly affects the Boulay, Saint-Avold Freyming-Merlebach and Sarreguemines basins.

The firefighters take the opportunity to recall precautionary instructions. They ask Mosellans to avoid travel: “Roads can become dangerous due to water accumulation, the risk of hydroplaning or landslides.” They also remind you that you should not drive on flooded and risky roads. Finally, they ask the Mosellans not to call them “only in case of real necessity”.

The A4 and the A320 partly cut

The Moselle prefecture indicates on its Twitter account that several highways had to be cut. The A4 motorway is interrupted in the Paris-Strasbourg direction, at Betting. The A320 is also cut at Freyming-Merlebach in the France-Germany direction.

Flooded city centers

HAS Bouzonvillein the Pays de Nied, the mayor interviewed on France Bleu Lorraine estimates that his town has been suffering since this Friday morning “historic floods, in the intensity of the rain and in this flood which exceeds anything we have experienced before”. The parents of students attending the Paul Grandjean school were called in the morning to come pick up their children. Armel Chabane explains: “The flood took place nearby, in particular the Pol Grandjean school and the after-school which faces a street called rue Galère which transformed into an entirely river with a fairly impressive torrent. The firefighters, the police and municipal services are managing the situation very well and I hope that it will stabilize in the hours to come.” This Friday at 3:30 p.m., the elected official asks parents “to stay calm. Their children are safe at their school. The best thing to do is to stay at home. I appeal to everyone to be careful.” The city is arranging to take in the children until you can pick them up.”

HAS Boulay, Cocheren, the images of the flooded streets are impressive. For people who live in the affected municipalities, it is advisable to “Place valuable objects and electrical appliances high up to avoid damage in the event of flooding. Secure your home: make sure that doors, windows and any water inlets are properly closed.”
