LIVE – LR Investiture: Michel Barnier announces the filing of 702 sponsorships

While Emmanuel Macron unveiled this morning on Facebook the outlines of the youth engagement contract, Jean Castex, visiting a local mission in Vitry, provided after-sales service.

“We are going to support at least 400,000 young people in 2022 (…) It is a very ambitious objective but one which is within our reach”, estimated the Prime Minister.

This measure should make it possible to receive up to 500 euros per month for young people aged 18 to 25, outside the education system and unemployed, in exchange for training or support of 15 to 20 hours per week.

Last day for the filing of the sponsorships of the candidates for the LR nomination for the presidential election.

This Tuesday morning, Michel Barnier’s teams announced that they had submitted 702 sponsorships, coming from more than 80 departments. That is much more than the 250 signatures required to validate his candidacy.

One way for the former minister to claim a form of internal plebiscite, even though the party has not planned to publish the official figures of the sponsorships gathered by each candidate.

This figure places him far ahead of Valérie Pécresse, Xavier Bertrand, Eric Ciotti and Philippe Juvin, all in a position to be on the starting line for the internal qualification.

Only Denis Payre has not yet submitted his sponsorships to rue de Vaugirard.

Interviewed this morning on RMC by Apolline de Malherbe, Ségolène Royal regretted a start to the campaign which she considers “not up to par”.

“At the start of the campaign, the level is not there. It has to go up a notch,” said the former socialist presidential candidate in 2007.

The former Minister of the Environment has also refrained from any clear support for Anne Hidalgo.

“I will see (if I vote socialist). I will vote in the interest of France,” said the policy.

Nicolas Bay, interviewed this morning on France Info called for a return to the publication of the sponsorship of mayors within the framework of the presidential election.

“What must be avoided is that this rule ends up preventing candidatures which have a certain electoral weight (…). We must return to the anonymity of the mayors”, ruled the European deputy RN.

To have the right to seek the votes of the French and to declare themselves officially, the candidates must collect at least 500 signatures of local elected officials.

Since 2016, the support of mayors has been made public – a sometimes delicate situation for mayors elected without a label.

Guest of Apolline de Malherbe this Tuesday on BFMTV-RMC, the President of the Republicans Christian Jacob considered that his party embodied the only credible alternative to Emmanuel Macron.

“The Republicans party is the only party to be able to put a project on the table,” he said.

“We have a president who does not care about the long term (…). Macron campaigns every day with the checkbook of France. It is unbearable,” said the candidate for the LR congress.

The President of the Republic has just presented the engagement income for young people aged 16 to 25 on Facebook.

It will be based on an income of up to 500 euros and a commitment from the young person concerned and will be deployed on March 1, 2022.

“Concretely, from March 1, all young people under 25 who, without training or employment for several months, will register, will be able to benefit from 15 to 20 hours of support per week to discover a profession, to train, find an apprenticeship or a job. Emmanuel Macron presents this Tuesday the “commitment income” for young people aged 16-25 that he had promised in July. This commitment income should also be mentioned by Prime Minister Jean Castex during a trip to a local mission in Vitry-sur-Seine.

Announced on July 12 by the president, it must be based on demanding support, an income – of a maximum of 500 euros – and a commitment from the young person who will condition the payment.
