According to the Palestinian border authority, 600 foreigners can leave the Gaza Strip, including 150 Germans. Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu is considering “small tactical breaks” in the fighting. All developments in the live blog.

According to information from the dpa news agency, hundreds of foreigners and Palestinians with second passports are expected to leave the Gaza Strip today and travel to Egypt. Among the approximately 600 people leaving the country, around 150 are Germans, according to a list from the Palestinian border authority. According to the list, the other travelers come from France, Canada, Ukraine, Romania and the Philippines, among others.

Egyptian security sources said more than 300 foreigners left the Gaza Strip on Monday, including 100 Egyptians.

In the Gaza Strip, an average of 33 trucks carrying relief supplies arrive every day for the suffering population. This was announced by the Palestinian Red Crescent. A total of 569 trucks with relief supplies have arrived since the Egyptian Rafah border crossing reopened on October 21st. According to the UN, 100 truckloads are actually necessary every day to supply the two million people in the Gaza Strip with the essentials.

The Palestinian Authority’s representative in Germany, Laith Arafeh, has thanked pro-Palestinian protesters for their support. Arafeh warned that anyone who supports a “continuation of aggression” is on the wrong side of history. “It is very regrettable that calls for justice and a ceasefire continue to be denigrated and falsely described as supporting terrorism,” Arafeh’s statement said, according to the dpa news agency. And: “We are grateful to the tens of thousands who raised their voices for justice and the freedom of Palestine.”

Recently there was sharp criticism in Germany that – as at a demonstration in Essen – Islamists were among the demonstrators.

The foreign ministers of the G7 states of the economically strong democracies are meeting this afternoon to discuss, among other things, the situation in the Middle East. At a working dinner in the Japanese capital Tokyo, the focus will be on the war in Israel following the terrorist attacks by the militant Islamist Hamas and the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

After the war against the terrorist militia Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Israel wants to assume full responsibility for security in the Gaza Strip, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “Israel will assume full responsibility for security (…) for an indefinite period of time,” Netanyahu said in an interview with US television channel ABC News. Otherwise there would be an “outbreak of Hamas terror” on an unimaginable scale, he explained. “We have seen what happens when we don’t have it (the responsibility),” he emphasized.

The UN Security Council has once again failed to agree on a resolution on the Middle East war. Even after more than two hours of negotiations behind closed doors, the differences could not be resolved.

The US is calling for “humanitarian pauses” in the war between Israel and Hamas, while many other council members are calling for a “humanitarian ceasefire” to deliver urgently needed aid to the Gaza Strip and avoid further civilian deaths.

China holds the presidency of the UN Security Council this month. The People’s Republic and the United Arab Emirates called the meeting because of the “crisis of humanity” in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israel will consider “tactical small pauses” in the fighting in the Gaza Strip to facilitate the import of humanitarian supplies or to bring freed hostages out of the area.

However, Netanyahu reiterated to US broadcaster ABC News his country’s rejection of a ceasefire unless all hostages are held captive in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.

Israeli troops have arrested Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi in the occupied West Bank on suspicion of inciting violence. Tamimi rose to prominence in 2017 when, at the age of 16, she slapped an Israeli soldier who had searched her village. She and others have been protesting against Israeli land grabs for years.

Her mother denies the incitement claim, saying the accusation was based on a fake Instagram post. The Israeli authorities said that Tamimi had written an inflammatory (Instagram) post in which she called for the killing of settlers, the mother said. However, her daughter doesn’t have an account with the service.

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators in Washington state have blocked access roads to the port of Tacoma, where a Navy supply ship recently docked. They acted on the basis of confidential information that the Cape Orlando was to be loaded with weapons for Israel, the organizers of the protest said. There is no official confirmation of this.

Around 300 had delayed the ship’s departure. The US Coast Guard arrested three people who climbed onto the Cape Orlando. The trio was released on Monday, according to a coast guard spokesman. These demonstrators and other people are still being investigated.
